and minoxidil. These have been proven to be effective against androgenetic
alopecia.
There are some non-prescription hair loss remedies that claim
to have similar effects on the hormone DHT. In order to appear on the market,
these products have to pass government regulatory testing. To pass these
tests they must prove that they are not harmful to use as instructed and
that they do what they claim to do. However, the extent that any over the
counter hair loss remedies work is the factor to consider.

There are many hair loss remedies on the market that do indeed
do a very good job of promoting healthy conditions for the growth of hair.
They have effects such as cause increased blood flow or intensive supplies
of protein to the hair growth system. These hair loss remedies are beneficial
to the hair follicle and hair growth but if the cause of hair loss is androgenetic
alopecia, the control of DHT must occur for hair loss remedies to have
any real affect.
